✧ The virtue of voluntary prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُبَيْدَ بْنَ عُمَيْرٍ يُحَدِّثُ قَالَ:
قِيلَ: أَيُّ الْجِهَادِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ: " مَنْ عُقِرَ جَوَادُهُ وَأُهْرِيقَ دَمُهُ قِيلَ: فَأَيُّ الصَّلَوَاتِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ: " طُولُ الْقُنُوتِ " قِيلَ: فَأَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ: " جَهْدُ الْمُقِلِّ " قِيلَ: فَأَيُّ الْهِجْرَةِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ: " مَنْ هَجَرَ مَا نَهَاهُ اللهُ عَنْهُ وَرَسُولُهُ " قِيلَ: فَأَيُّ النَّاسِ أَحْكَمُ ؟ قَالَ: " الَّذِي يَحْكُمُ لِلنَّاسِ كَمَا يَحْكُمُ لِنَفْسِهِ " قِيلَ: فَأَيُّ النَّاسِ أَعْلَمُ ؟ قَالَ: " الَّذِي يَجْمَعُ عِلْمَ النَّاسِ إِلَى عِلْمِهِ
Translation
✧ It was said: Which jihad is most excellent? He said: Whoever's horse is hamstrung and his blood is shed. It was said: Then which prayers are most excellent? He said: Lengthy qunut. It was said: Then which charity is most excellent? He said: The effort of the one with little. It was said: Then which emigration is most excellent? He said: Whoever abandons what God and His Messenger have forbidden. It was said: Then which of the people is most judicious? He said: The one who judges for people as he judges for himself. It was said: Then which of the people is most knowledgeable? He said: The one who gathers the knowledge of people to his own knowledge.
