✧ Night Prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ،
أَنَّ عُمَرَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ، حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ أَيْقَظَ أَهْلَهُ، وَيَقُولُ: الصَّلَاةَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَيَتْلُو هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ: ﴿وَأْمُرْ أَهْلَكَ بِالصَّلاةِ وَاصْطَبِرْ عَلَيْهَا لا نَسْأَلُكَ رِزْقًا نَحْنُ نَرْزُقُكَ وَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلتَّقْوَى ﴾
Translation
✧ Umar used to pray during the night as much as Allah willed, until when it was the last part of the night, he would wake his family, saying: 'The prayer, the prayer,' and he would recite this verse: 'And enjoin prayer upon your family and be steadfast therein. We ask you not for provision; We provide for you, and the outcome is for the righteous.'
