✧ How Many Rak'ahs Is the Witr

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُصْعَبَ بْنَ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ يَقُولُ لِسَعْدٍ:
إِنَّكَ تُوتِرُ بِرَكْعَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ، أُخَفِّفُ عَلَى نَفْسِي، ثَلَاثٌ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ وَاحِدَةٍ، وَخَمْسٌ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ، وَسَبْعٌ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَمْسٍ
Translation
✧ You perform the witr with one rak'ah? He said: Yes, I make it light for myself. Three are dearer to me than one, five are dearer to me than three, and seven are dearer to me than five.
