✧ When does a traveler shorten the prayer when he sets out on a journey

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ قَالَ:
كَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ يَقْصُرُ الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهِ
Translation
✧ Ibn 'Umar, when he left his house, would shorten the prayer until he returned to it.
