عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بَابَاهْ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ: إِنَّمَا اللهُ قَالَ: ﴿أَنْ تَقْصُرُوا مِنَ الصَّلاةِ إِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَنْ يَفْتِنَكُمُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ﴾، فَقَدْ أَمِنَ النَّاسُ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: عَجِبْتُ مِمَّا عَجِبْتَ مِنْهُ، فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: صَدَقَةٌ تَصَدَّقَ اللهُ بِهَا عَلَيْكُمْ، فَاقْبَلُوا صَدَقَتَهُ
Translation
✧ I said to ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb: "Allah only said: 'That you shorten the prayer if you fear that those who disbelieve will put you to trial,' but the people are now safe." ʿUmar said: "I wondered at what you wondered at, so I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: 'It is a charity that Allah has bestowed upon you, so accept His charity.'"
