✧ The prayer of fear

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، أَنَّ طَاوُسًا أَخْبَرَهُ،
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى صَلَاةَ الظُّهْرِ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَهُوَ وَالْعَدُوُّ فِي صَحْرَاءَ وَاحِدَةٍ، فَقَالَ الْعَدُوُّ: إِنَّ لَهُمْ صَلَاةً أُخْرَى هِيَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِمْ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ، فَقَامُوا خَلْفَهُ صَفَّيْنِ، فَرَكَعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَرَكَعَ الصَّفُّ الْأَوَّلُ وَالصَّفُّ الْآخِرُ قِيَامٌ، ثُمَّ قَامُوا فَارْتَدَّ الصَّفُّ الْأَوَّلُ الْقَهْقَرَى، ثُمَّ قَامُوا إِلَى مَقَامِ الصَّفِّ الْآخِرِ، فَتَقَدَّمَ الْآخِرُ حَتَّى قَامُوا فِي مَقَامِهِمْ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَرَكَعَ الصَّفُّ الْأَوَّلُ، فَكَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ رَكْعَتَانِ، وَلِكُلِّ صَفٍّ رَكْعَةٌ، ثُمَّ صَلَّوْا عَلَى مَصَافِّهِمْ رَكْعَةً رَكْعَةً
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ prayed the Zuhr prayer, four rak'ahs, while he and the enemy were in one open plain. The enemy said: They have another prayer that is dearer to them than the world and all it contains. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to pray Asr, and they stood behind him in two rows. The Prophet ﷺ bowed, and the first row bowed while the back row remained standing. Then they stood up, and the first row stepped backward and moved to the position of the back row, while the back row advanced until they stood in their position. Then the Prophet ﷺ bowed, and the first row bowed. Thus the Prophet ﷺ had two rak'ahs, and each row had one rak'ah. Then they prayed one rak'ah each in their positions.
