عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ النَّخَعِيِّ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ:
حَثَّ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ النَّاسَ عَلَى السِّوَاكِ، وَقَالَ: " إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا قَامَ يُصَلِّي دَنَا الْمَلَكُ يَسْتَمِعُ الْقُرْآنَ، فَمَا يَزَالُ يَدْنُو حَتَّى أَنَّهُ يَضَعُ فَاهُ عَلَى فِيهِ، فَمَا يَلْفِظُ مِنْ آيَةٍ إِلَّا يَقَعُ فِي جَوْفِ الْمَلَكِ " قَالَ: " فَطَبِنُوا مَا هُنَالِكَ وَحُبَّ عَلِيٍّ السِّوَاكَ
Translation
✧ Ali b. Abi Talib urged the people to use the toothstick, and said: When a man stands to pray, the angel draws near to listen to the Qur'an, and he keeps drawing near until he puts his mouth upon his mouth. He does not utter a verse except that it falls into the angel's interior. He said: So pay attention to that, and Ali's love for the toothstick.
