عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مِغْوَلٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ بُرَيْدَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:
سَمِعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَوْتَ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ أَبِي مُوسَى وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ، فَقَالَ: لَقَدْ أُوتِيَ هَذَا مِزْمَارًا مِنْ مَزَامِيرِ آلِ دَاوُدَ فَحَدَّثَهُ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: الْآنَ أَنْتَ لِي صِدِّيقٌ حِينَ أَخْبَرْتَنِي هَذَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: لَوْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْتَمِعُ لِقِرَاءَتِي حَبَّرْتُهَا تَحْبِيرًا قَالَ: وَسَمِعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ صَوْتًا آخَرَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: " أَتَقُولُهُ مُرَائِيًا ؟ " فَلَمْ أُجِبِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بِشَيْءٍ حَتَّى رَدَّدَهَا عَلَيَّ مَرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا، فَقُلْتُ بَعْدَ اثْنَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا أَتَقُولُهُ مُرَائِيًا بَلْ هُوَ مُنِيبٌ قَالَ: وَسَمِعَ آخَرَ يَدْعُو: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ، الْأَحَدُ الصَّمَدُ الَّذِي لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَكَ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ، فَقَالَ: " لَقَدْ سَأَلَ اللهَ بِاسْمِهِ الَّذِي إِذَا دُعِيَ بِهِ أَجَابَ وَإِذَا سُئِلَ بِهِ أَعْطَى
Translation
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard the voice of al-Ash'ari, Abu Musa, while he was reciting, and he said: 'This one has been given a flute from the flutes of the family of David.' He told him that, and he said: 'Now you are a true friend to me, since you informed me of this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' He said: 'If I had known that the Prophet of Allah ﷺ was listening to my recitation, I would have embellished it beautifully.' He said: 'And the Prophet ﷺ heard another voice, and the Prophet ﷺ said: "Do you say it to show off?" I did not answer the Prophet ﷺ with anything until he repeated it to me once or twice or three times. After two or three times I said: "Do you say it to show off? Rather, he is repentant."' He said: 'And he heard another one supplicating: "O Allah, I ask You by the fact that I bear witness that You are Allah, there is no god but You, the One, the Eternal Refuge, who did not beget and was not begotten, and there is none equal to You." He said: "He has asked Allah by His name by which if He is called upon He answers, and if He is asked by it He gives."
