machine translationʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Ibn Jurayj, who said:
✧ I said to Ata: "I begin the prayer standing, then I pray and recite while sitting without having bowed or prostrated?" He said, "Yes." I said, "I bow for one rak'ah, then I sit and recite?" He said, "No, I dislike that you sit after an odd number." I said, "Then I begin the prayer, then I sit without bowing or prostrating?" He said, "Yes, if you wish. You are not now after an odd number." I said, "What if I sit after one rak'ah?" He said, "Prostrate the two prostrations of forgetfulness. But sit after two rak'ahs whenever you wish."
