✧ May a man lead others while sitting

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ:
سَقَطَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنْ فَرَسٍ فَجُحِشَ شِقُّهُ الْأَيْمَنُ، فَدَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ قَاعِدًا، وَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَنِ اقْعُدُوا، فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ، فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا، وَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا، فَإِذَا قَالَ: سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ، قُولُوا: رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ، وَإِذَا سَجَدَ فَاسْجُدُوا، وَإِذَا صَلَّى جَالِسًا فَصَلُّوا جُلُوسًا أَجْمَعِينَ
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ fell from a horse and injured his right side. They came to him and he prayed with them sitting, and he gestured to them to sit. When he said the salām, he said: “The imām is appointed only to be followed. When he says takbīr, then say takbīr; when he bows, then bow; when he says, ‘God hears the one who praises Him,’ then say, ‘Our Lord, and to You is the praise’; when he prostrates, then prostrate; and when he prays sitting, then all of you pray sitting.”
