✧ A person should not offer voluntary prayers where he prays the obligatory prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي الْخُوَارِ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ:
صَلَّيْتُ الْجُمُعَةَ مَعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ فِي الْمَقْصُورَةِ، فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قُمْتُ مَقَامِي فَصَلَّيْتُ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ أَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ، فَقَالَ: لَا تَعُدْ لِمَا فَعَلْتَ، إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلَا تَصِلْهَا حَتَّى تَكَلَّمَ أَوْ تَخْرُجَ، فَإِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَرَ بِذَلِكَ
Translation
✧ I prayed the Friday prayer with Mu'awiya in the enclosure, and when he said the salam, I stood in my place and prayed. When he entered, he sent for me and said, 'Do not repeat what you did. When you pray the Friday prayer, do not connect it until you speak or leave, for the Prophet of Allah ﷺ commanded that.'
