أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ،
أَنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ مَرَّ بِأَهْلِ مَاءٍ وَقَدْ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ، فَدَخَلَ مَعَهُمْ، فَأَمَّهُمْ إِنْسَانٌ مِنْهُمْ، فَقَرَأَ، وَأَلْحَقَ فِي قِرَاءَتِهِ: نَحُجُّ بَيْتَ رَبِّنَا وَنَقْضِي الدَّيْنَ، وَزَادَ غَيْرُ قَتَادَةَ: وَهُنَّ كَالْقَطَوَاتِ يَهْوِينَ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ: ﴿مَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَذَا فِي الْمِلَّةِ الآخِرَةِ إِنْ هَذَا إِلا اخْتِلاقٌ ﴾قَالَ: " فَنَكَصَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ، وَتَقَدَّمَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ
Translation
✧ Ibn Mas'ud passed by some people at a watering place when the prayer had been commenced, so he entered with them. A man among them led them, and he recited and added to his recitation: We make pilgrimage to the house of our Lord and we pay the debt. Someone other than Qatadah added: And they are like sandgrouse hurrying down. Ibn Mas'ud said: {We have not heard of this in the latter religion; this is nothing but a fabrication}. He said: The bedouin stepped back, and Ibn Mas'ud came forward and led them in prayer.
