عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: إِمَامٌ لَا يُوفِي الصَّلَاةَ، أَعْتَزِلُ الصَّلَاةَ ؟ قَالَ: " بَلْ صَلِّ مَعَهُ، وَأَوْفِ مَا اسْتَطَعْتَ وَإِنْ قَامَ، قُلْتُ: وَكَذَلِكَ إِنْ كَانَ فِي بَادِيَةٍ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ، وَلَا يُتَمِّمُ قَالَ: " وَكَذَلِكَ فَأَتِمَّهُ أَنْتَ "، قُلْتُ: فَكُنْتُ أَنَا وَرَجُلٌ فِي سَفَرٍ فَوَجَدْنَا، فَكَانَ يَؤُمُّنِي وَلَا يُتِمُّ، وَأُصَلِّي وَحْدِي ؟ قَالَ: " بَلْ صَلِّ مَعَهُ وَأَوْفِ، اثْنَانِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ وَاحِدٍ، وَثَلَاثَةٌ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنِ اثْنَيْنِ
Translation

✧ I said to 'Ata': 'An imam who does not complete the prayer—should I withdraw from the prayer?' He said, 'Rather pray with him and complete it as much as you can, even if he stands up.' I said, 'And likewise if one is in the desert with the imam and he does not complete it?' He said, 'Likewise, so you complete it yourself.' I said, 'What if I and another man are on a journey, and he leads me but does not complete it, while I pray alone?' He said, 'Rather pray with him and complete it. Two are dearer to me than one, and three are dearer to me than two.'
