✧ Leftover Water of a Cat

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدَةَ بِنْتِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ، عَنْ كَبْشَةَ بِنْتِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، وَكَانَتْ عِنْدَ ابْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ،
أَنَّ أَبَا قَتَادَةَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَسَكَبَتْ لَهُ وَضُوءً، فَجَاءَتْ هِرَّةٌ فَشَرِبَتْ، فَأَصْغَى لَهَا الْإِنَاءَ حَتَّى تَشْرَبَ، قَالَتْ كَبْشَةُ: فَرَآنِي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ: أَتَعْجَبِينَ يَا بِنْتَ أَخِي ؟ قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: إِنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ بِنَجَسٍ إِنَّمَا هِيَ مِنَ الطَّوَّافِينَ وَالطَّوَّافَاتِ
Translation
✧ Abu Qatadah entered upon her, and she poured water for his ablution. A cat came and drank, and he tilted the vessel for it until it drank. Kabshah said: He saw me looking at him, and he said, "Are you amazed, daughter of my brother?" She said, "Yes." He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'It is not impure; it is merely one of the frequent visitors—males and females.'"
