✧ Water Touched by a Junub or Into Which He Enters

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ

فِي الرَّجُلِ تُصِيبُهُ الْجَنَابَةُ فَيَمُرُّ بِالْبِئْرِ وَلَيْسَ مَعَهُ دَلْوٌ قَالَ: إِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ إِلَّا أَنْ يُدْخِلَ يَدَهُ فِيهَا فَلْيُدْخِلْ. قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ: وَسَمِعْتُ مَنْ يَقُولُ: يَبُلُّ طَرَفَ ثَوْبِهِ، ثُمَّ يَعْصِرُهُ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ فَيَغْسِلُ يَدَيْهِ. قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ: وَلَوْ تَيَمَّمَ ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ كَانَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ

Translation

✧ About a man who becomes ritually impure and passes by a well without a bucket with him. He said: 'If he finds no way but to put his hand into it, let him put it in.' Ma'mar said: 'I heard someone say: He should wet the edge of his garment, then squeeze it over his hands to wash them.' Ma'mar said: 'If he performed tayammum and then put his hand in, that would be preferable to me.'
