عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ:
صَلَّى عُمَرُ بِالنَّاسِ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ، فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ قِرَاءَتَهُ فِيهَا، فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيُّ: مَا لَكَ لَمْ تَقْرَأْ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ؟ قَالَ: " أَكَذَلِكَ يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ ؟ " قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: " أَوَفَعَلْتُ ؟ " قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: " صَدَقْتُمْ "، قَالَ: " إِنِّي جَهَّزْتُ عِيرًا مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ حَتَّى وَرَدَتِ الشَّامَ، فَكُنْتُ أُرَحِّلُهَا مَرْحَلَةً مَرْحَلَةً "، قَالَ: فَأَعَادَ لَهُمُ الصَّلَاةَ
Translation

machine translationʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Maʿmar, from Qatādah, who said:
✧ Umar prayed the night prayer with the people, and I did not hear him recite in it. Abu Musa al-Ash'ari said to him: "What is the matter with you, O Commander of the Faithful, that you did not recite?" He said: "Is it so, O Abd al-Rahman b. Awf?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Did I do that?" They said: "Yes." He said: "You have spoken the truth." He said: "I prepared a caravan from Madinah until it reached Syria, and I was moving it stage by stage." Then he repeated the prayer for them.
