عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَيُّوبَ يَسْأَلُ عَاصِمَ بْنَ أَبِي النَّجُودِ:
مَا سَمِعْتَ فِي قِرَاءَةِ: بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ؟ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو وَائِلٍ، أَنَّهُ " سَمِعَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ يَفْتَتِحُ ﴿الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ﴾
Translation
✧ What have you heard about reciting 'Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim'? He said: Abu Wa'il informed me that he heard Umar b. al-Khattab begin with 'Al-hamdu lillahi rabb il-alamin' (Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds).
