عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي حَسَنُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ:
سَوُّوا صُفُوفَكُمْ، وَحَاذُوا الْمَنَاكِبَ، وَأَعِينُوا إِمَاءَكُمْ، وَكُفُّوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ، فَإِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ يَكُفُّ نَفْسَهُ، وَيُعِينُ إِمَاءَهُ، وَإِنَّ الْمُنَافِقَ لَا يُعِينُ إِمَاءَهُ، وَلَا يَكُفُّ نَفْسَهُ، وَلَا تُكَلِّفُوا الْغُلَامَ غَيْرَ الصَّانِعِ الْخَرَاجَ، فَإِنَّهُ إِذَا لَمْ يَجِدْ خَرَاجَهُ سَرَقَ، وَلَا تُكَلِّفُوا الْأَمَةَ غَيْرَ الصَّانِعِ خَرَاجًا، فَإِنَّهَا إِذَا لَمْ تَجِدْ شَيْئًا الْتَمَسَتْهُ بِفَرْجِهَا
Translation
✧ Straighten your rows, align your shoulders, help your female slaves, and restrain yourselves. For the believer restrains himself and helps his female slaves, while the hypocrite does not help his female slaves nor restrain himself. And do not impose a tax on a slave who is not a craftsman, for if he cannot find his tax he will steal; and do not impose a tax on a slave woman who is not a craftswoman, for if she cannot find anything she will seek it with her private parts.
