عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ ابْنِ أَبِي سُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:
كُنْتُ مَعَ عُثْمَانَ فَقَامَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَأَنَا أُكَلِّمُهُ فِي أَنْ يَفْرِضَ لِي، فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أُكَلِّمُهُ، وَهُوَ يُسَوِّي الْحَصَى بِيَدِهِ، حَتَّى جَاءَهُ رِجَالٌ قَدْ كَانَ وَكَلَهُمْ بِتَسْوِيَةِ الصُّفُوفِ، فَأَخْبَرُوهُ أَنَّهَا قَدِ اسْتَوَتْ، فَقَالَ لِي: " اسْتَوِ فِي الصَّفِّ "، ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ
Translation
✧ I was with Uthman when the prayer commenced, and I was speaking to him about granting me a stipend. I kept speaking to him while he was leveling the pebbles with his hand, until some men whom he had entrusted with straightening the rows came and informed him that they were now straight. He said to me: "Stand in the row," and then he said the takbir.
