✧ The Extent of What Screens the Worshipper

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ:
رَأَى عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَجُلًا يُصَلِّي لَيْسَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ سُتْرَةٌ، فَجَلَسَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ قَالَ: " لَا تَعْجَلْ عَنْ صَلَاتِكَ "، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ، قَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ: إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُصَلِّ إِلَى سُتْرَةٍ، لَا يَحُولُ الشَّيْطَانُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ صَلَاتِهِ
Translation
✧ ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb saw a man praying with no screen in front of him, so he sat down in front of him and said: "Do not rush your prayer." When he finished, ʿUmar said to him: "When one of you prays, let him pray toward a screen, so that Satan does not come between him and his prayer."
