✧ A Man Comes for the Congregational Prayer and Finds Them in the One After It

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ قَالَ:
انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ الْعَصْرَ وَلَمْ أَكُنْ صَلَّيْتُ الظُّهْرَ " قَالَ: " فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُمْ، وَأَنَا أَحْسَبُ أَنَّهَا الظُّهْرُ قَالَ: " فَلَمَّا فَرَغْتُ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّهَا الْعَصْرُ " قَالَ: " فَصَلَّيْتُ الظُّهْرَ، ثُمَّ صَلَّيْتُ الْعَصْرَ " قَالَ: ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، فَكُلُّهُمْ أَمَرَنِي بِالَّذِي فَعَلْتُ، قَالَ ابْنُ سِيرِينَ: وَأَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِهَا
Translation
✧ I arrived in Madinah while they were praying 'Asr, and I had not prayed Zuhr. He said: 'So I prayed with them, thinking it was Zuhr.' He said: 'When I finished, I learned that it was 'Asr.' He said: 'So I prayed Zuhr, then I prayed 'Asr.' He said: 'Then I asked in Madinah, and everyone ordered me to do what I did.' Ibn Sirin said: 'And the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were there at that time.'
