✧ The Time of the Late Evening Prayer

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادِ بْنِ بِشْرٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ الدَّبَرِيُّ قَالَ: قَرَأْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ بْنِ هَمَّامٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:
لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ الْوُضُوءِ، وَلَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَخَّرْتُ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ إِلَى نِصْفِ اللَّيْلِ، فَإِنَّ اللهَ - أَوْ قَالَ: إِنَّ رَبَّنَا - تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَنْزِلُ إِلَى سَمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا، فَيَقُولُ: مَنْ يَسْأَلُنِي ؟ فَأُعْطِيَهُ، مَنْ يَسْتَغْفِرُنِي ؟ فَأَغْفِرَ لَهُ، مَنْ يَدْعُونِي ؟ فَأَسْتَجِيبَ لَهُ
Translation
✧ Were it not that I would make things difficult for my Ummah, I would command them to use the siwak with wudu. And were it not that I would make things difficult for my Ummah, I would delay the Isha prayer until a third of the night or half of the night, for Allah—or he said: our Lord—Blessed and Exalted descends to the lowest heaven and says: Who asks Me, that I may give him? Who seeks My forgiveness, that I may forgive him? Who calls upon Me, that I may answer him?
