Concerning a man in whose possession goods are found, and their owners recognize them, and he says: "I bought it." He said: "There is no cutting of the hand upon him. But if he is suspected, his affair is investigated; if it is established against him, his hand is cut off, and the goods are returned to their owners." Qatādah said the same, except for his statement: "his affair is investigated."
