عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ شُبَيْلِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ:
مَنْ مُؤَذِّنُوكُمُ الْيَوْمَ ؟ قَالُوا: مَوَالِينَا وَعَبِيدُنَا، قَالَ: إِنَّ ذَلِكَ بِكُمْ لَنَقْصٌ كَثِيرٌ
Translation
✧ "Who are your muʾadhdhins today?" They said, "Our freedmen and slaves." He said, "That is a great deficiency in you."
