عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:

قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: أَيُؤَذِّنُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةِ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، فَإِنْ كَانَ فِي قَرْيَةٍ فَإِنَّهُ يَلْتَفِتُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَيَسَارِهِ وَوَرَاءَهُ، فَيَدْعُو النَّاسَ بِالنِّدَاءِ، فَإِنْ كَانَ فِي سَفَرٍ لَيْسَ مَعَهُ بَشَرٌ كَثِيرٌ مَعَ خَلِيفَةٍ أَوْ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِي النَّاسِ مَنْ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الْأَذَانِ، فَلْيَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ فِي نِدَائِهِ أَجْمَعَ

Translation

✧ I said to Ata': 'Should the mu'adhdhin face the qiblah?' He said: 'Yes. If he is in a village, he should turn to his right, his left, and behind him, and call the people with the adhan. If he is on a journey, and there are not many people with him, such as with a caliph, or there is no one among the people to call them to the adhan, then he should face the qiblah throughout his entire call.'
