Translation

✧ Umar b. al-Khattab went out to relieve himself in Ajyad. Then he returned and asked for water for ablution, but they did not give him any. Umm Mahzul, who was one of the nine prostitutes in the pre-Islamic era, said: 'O Commander of the Faithful, here is water, but it is in a wooden bowl, and the bowl has not been tanned.' Umar said to Khalid b. Tuhayl: 'Is it she?' He said: 'Yes.' Then he said: 'Bring it, for Allah has made water a means of purification.'
