أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ:
سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: الرَّجُلُ يَجِدُ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ رَجُلًا فَيَقْتُلُهُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: " إِلَّا بِالْبَيِّنَةِ "، فَقَالَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، وَأَيُّ بَيِّنَةٍ أَبْيَنُ مِنَ السَّيْفِ ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: أَلَا تَسْمَعُونَ إِلَى مَا يَقُولُ سَيِّدُكُمْ ؟ قَالُوا: لَا تَلُمْهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَإِنَّهُ رَجُلٌ غَيُورٌ، وَاللهِ مَا تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً قَطُّ إِلَّا بِكْرًا، وَلَا طَلَّقَ امْرَأَةً قَطُّ فَاسْتَطَاعَ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَهَا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: يَأْبَى اللهُ إِلَّا بِالْبَيِّنَةِ

A man asked the Prophet ﷺ and said: "A man finds another man with his wife and kills him?" The Prophet ﷺ said: "Not unless with clear proof." Saʿd b. ʿUbādah said: "And what proof is clearer than the sword?" The Prophet ﷺ said: "Do you not hear what your chief is saying?" They said: "Do not blame him, O Messenger of God, for he is a man of great jealousy. By God, he never married a woman except a virgin, and he never divorced a woman such that any one of us could marry her." The Prophet ﷺ said: "God refuses anything except clear proof."
