عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْقُدُّوسِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا نَافِعٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ:

سَمِعَ عُمَرُ رَجُلًا رَفَعَ صَوْتَهُ فَقَالَ: مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ ؟ قَالَ: مِنْ ثَقِيفَ قَالَ: مِنْ أَيِّ الْأَرْضِ ؟ قَالَ: مِنْ أَهْلِ الطَّائِفِ قَالَ: أَمَا إِنَّكَ لَوْ أَنَّكَ كُنْتَ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَلَدِنَا هَذَا لَأَوْجَعْتُكَ ضَرْبًا، إِنَّ مَسْجِدَنَا هَذَا لَا يُرْفَعُ فِيهِ الصَّوْتُ

Translation

✧ Umar heard a man raise his voice, so he said: "Where are you from?" The man said: "From Thaqif." He said: "From which land?" He said: "From the people of al-Ta'if." He said: "Indeed, if you had been from the people of this city of ours, I would have given you a painful beating. In this mosque of ours, the voice is not to be raised."
