عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ قَالَ:
كُنَّا عِنْدَ حُذَيْفَةَ، فَقَامَ شَبَثُ بْنُ رِبْعِيٍّ يُصَلِّي فَبَصَقَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ: يَا شَبَثُ لَا تَبْصُقْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ، وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِكَ، فَإِنَّ عَنْ يَمِينِكَ كَاتِبَ الْحَسَنَاتِ، وَابْصُقْ عَنْ شِمَالِكَ، وَخَلْفَكَ فَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ فَأَحْسَنَ الْوُضُوءَ، وَقَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ اسْتَقْبَلَهُ اللهُ بِوَجْهِهِ يُنَاجِيهِ فَلَا يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْهُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ هُوَ يَنْصَرِفُ، أَوْ يُحْدِثُ حَدَثَ سَوْءٍ
Translation

machine translationʿAbd al-Razzāq, from al-Thawrī, from al-Aʿmash, from Abū Wāʾil, who said:
✧ We were with Hudhayfah, and Shabath b. Rib'i stood up to pray and spat in front of him. When he finished, Hudhayfah said: O Shabath, do not spit in front of you, nor to your right, for on your right is the writer of good deeds. Spit to your left or behind you. Indeed, when a man performs ablution well and stands for prayer, Allah faces him with His countenance, conversing with him, so He does not turn away from him until he himself turns away or commits a bad deed.
