✧ Spitting in the mosque

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ: رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَحَكَّهَا بِمَدَرَةٍ - أَوْ بِشَيْءٍ -، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَلَا يَتَنَخَّمَنَّ أَمَامَهُ، وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَإِنَّ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ مَلَكًا، وَلَكِنْ لِيَتَنَخَّمْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw mucus in the qiblah of the mosque, so he scraped it off with a clod of earth – or with something – then said: When any of you stands for prayer, let him not spit in front of him, nor to his right, for on his right there is an angel; but let him spit to his left or under his left foot.
