عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: مُكَاتَبِي قَاطَعْتُهُ مِمَّا عَلَيْهِ عَلَى مَالٍ، وَلَمْ أَذْكُرْ أَنَا وَلَا هُوَ عِتْقًا، قَالَ: مَا وُلِدَ لَهُ الْآخِرَ بِمَا قَدَّمْتَ قَاطَعْتَهُ عَلَيْهِ، قُلْتُ: فَعَجَزَ، قَالَ: " مَا أُرَاهُ إِلَّا غَرِيمًا قَدْ عَتَقَ "، وَقَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ نَحْوًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُ عَطَاءً بَعْدُ، فَقَالَ: " هُوَ عَبْدٌ حَتَّى يُؤَدِّيَ آخِرَ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ "، قُلْتُ: فَعَجَزَ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: " هُوَ عَبْدٌ حَتَّى يُؤَدِّيَ آخِرَ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ، مَا يُعْتِقُهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُؤَدِّيَ "
