عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: أُصَلِّي فِي بَيْتِي فِي مَسْجِدٍ مَشِيدٍ، أَوْ بِمَرْمَرٍ لَيْسَ فِيهِ تُرَابٌ، وَلَا بَطْحَاءُ ؟ قَالَ: مَا أُحِبُّ ذَلِكَ، الْبَطْحَاءُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ، قُلتُ: أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ فِيهِ حَيْثُ أَضَعُ وَجْهِي قَطُّ، قَبْضَةُ بَطْحَاءَ أَيَكْفِينِي ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، إِذَا كَانَ قَدْرُ وَجْهِهِ أَوْ أَنْفِهِ وَجَبِينِهِ، قُلتُ: وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ تَحْتَ يَدَيْهِ بَطْحَاءُ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قُلْتُ: فَأَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ أَنْ أَجْعَلَ السُّجُودَ كُلَّهُ بَطْحَاءَ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ
Translation
✧ I said to ʿAṭāʾ: May I pray in my house on a plastered floor, or on marble, where there is no dust or pebbles? He said: I do not like that; pebbles are more beloved to me. I said: What if there were a handful of pebbles just where I place my face—would that suffice me? He said: Yes, if it is the size of his face, or his nose and forehead. I said: Even if there are no pebbles under his hands? He said: Yes. I said: Would you prefer that I make the entire place of prostration pebbles? He said: Yes.
