✧ What Removes Sins Through the Ablution

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الْمُثَنَّى بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ الشَّامِيِّ، أَنَّ
مَوْلَاةً لَهُ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ هَاشِمٍ أَجْلَسَتْهُ فِي السِّتْرِ بِدَوَاةٍ وَقَلَمٍ، وَأَرْسَلَتْ إِلَى أَبِي أُمَامَةَ فَسَأَلَتْهُ عَنْ حَدِيثٍ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْوُضُوءِ فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: مَنْ قَامَ إِلَى الْوُضُوءِ فَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ خَرَجَتِ الْخَطَايَا مِنْ يَدَيْهِ، فَإِذَا مَضْمَضَ خَرَجَتِ الْخَطَايَا مِنْ فِيهِ، فَإِذَا اسْتَنْثَرَ خَرَجَتْ مِنْ أَنْفِهِ، فَكَذَلِكَ حَتَّى يَغْسِلَ الْقَدَمَيْنِ، فَإِنْ خَرَجَ إِلَى صَلَاةٍ مَفْرُوضَةٍ كَانَ كَحَجَّةٍ مَبْرُورَةٍ، وَإِنْ خَرَجَ إِلَى صَلَاةِ تَطَوُّعٍ كَانَتْ كَعُمْرَةٍ مَبْرُورَةٍ
Translation
✧ A freedwoman of his called Umm Hashim seated him behind the curtain with an inkpot and a pen, and sent to Abu Umamah asking him about a hadith he narrated from the Messenger of God ﷺ regarding ablution. He said: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: Whoever stands for ablution and washes his hands, sins depart from his hands; when he rinses his mouth, sins depart from his mouth; when he sniffs water, they depart from his nose; and so on until he washes his feet. If he goes out for an obligatory prayer, it is like an accepted Hajj, and if he goes out for a voluntary prayer, it is like an accepted 'Umrah.
