✧ May He Return [a Slave] Because of Insolvency, Deformity, Stupidity, and Running Away

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ شُرَيْحٍ -
أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَرُدُّ مِنَ الْحُمْقِ. وَاخْتُصِمَ إِلَيْهِ فِي جَارِيَةٍ حَمْقَاءَ، فَقَالَ: " ضَعُوا لَهَا جَفْنَةً مِنْ مَاءٍ؛ فَإِنْ شَرِبَتْ فَأَشْرَعَتْ فِيهَا فَهِيَ حَمْقَاءُ، وَإِنْ رَفَعَتْهَا إِلَيْهَا فَلَيْسَتْ حَمْقَاءَ
