قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: وَأَخْبَرَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ شُرَيْحٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ لَهُ:
إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَعْلَمُونَ ذَلِكَ، يَقُولُ: إِنَّهُ لَا يَحْدُثُ، فَقَالَ: ائْتِنِي بِرَجُلَيْنِ مِنَ النَّاسِ أَنَّهُ بَاعَكَ وَبِهِ ذَلِكَ الدَّاءُ
