Ibn Masʿūd wanted to buy a slave girl from his wife to take as a concubine. She said: "I will not sell her to you until I stipulate to you that if you sell her, you will sell her back to me; I have more right to her for the price!" He said: "Not until I ask ʿUmar." So he asked him, and he said: "Do not approach her while there is a stipulation in her for anyone."
