Translation
✧ A woman from the people of Kufa wrote a letter to Ibn Abbas. He handed it to his son to read, but he stumbled over it. He handed it to me, and I read it. Ibn Abbas said: If only you had read it fluently as the Egyptian boy did. The letter said: I am a woman with istihadah. Affliction and harm have befallen me, and I have abandoned prayer for a long time. Ali b. Abi Talib was asked about that and gave me the ruling to perform ghusl for every prayer. Ibn Abbas said: By God, I find nothing for her except what Ali said, except that she combines zuhr and asr with one ghusl, and maghrib and isha with one ghusl, and performs ghusl for fajr. It was said to him: Kufa is a cold land and it is difficult for her. He said: If He willed, He could afflict her with something more severe than that.
