Notes
machine translationAbū ʿĪsā said: This is a gharīb hadith; we do not know it except from this route, and its chain of transmission is not that strong. Several things have been narrated from Anas, from the Prophet ﷺ, on this subject.

machine translationThere is some criticism (maqāl) of its chain of transmission.
in جامع الترمذي, p. 620 - Dāraquṭnī
machine translationAbū Isḥāq al-Sabīʿī narrated it, and there is disagreement about him. Yūnus b. Abī Isḥāq, al-Khalīl b. Murrah, al-Ḥakam b. ʿAbdullāh al-Naṣrī, Ḥafṣ b. Sulaymān, and Abū Ḥamzah al-Thumālī Thābit b. Abī Ṣafiyyah narrated it from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū Juḥayfah, from ʿAlī. There is disagreement about Ḥafṣ b. Sulaymān and Abū Ḥamzah. It was said from Ḥafṣ, from Abū Isḥāq, from ʿAwn b. Abī Juḥayfah, from his father, from ʿAlī; this statement is an error (wahm) on the part of whoever said it, and the correct report is from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū Juḥayfah. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Abī Sulaymān said, from Abū Ḥamzah al-Thumālī, from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū Juḥayfah, as a statement of the Companion (mawqūf); and its attribution to the Prophet (marfūʿ) is sound (ṣaḥīḥ).
