What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

machine translationA gharīb hadith; al-Faḍl b. Mūsā was alone in narrating it from ʿAbdullāh b. Saʿīd b. Abī Hind with a connected chain (muttaṣil), while others narrated it from ʿIkrimah as mursal.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 601
  • al-Tirmidhi

    machine translationA strange (gharīb) hadith.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 601
  • al-Tirmidhi

machine translationWakīʿ differed from al-Faḍl b. Mūsā in his narration. Then he recorded it from Wakīʿ, from ʿAbdullāh b. Saʿīd, with it, as mursal. And he said in his al-ʿIlal al-Kabīr: "I do not know anyone who narrated this hadith from ʿAbdullāh b. Saʿīd as musnad like what al-Faḍl b. Mūsā narrated."

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 601
  • Ibn al-Qaṭṭān

machine translationThis hadith is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ), even though it is gharīb, not known except through this route, for ʿAbdullāh b. Saʿīd and Thawr b. Zayd are trustworthy (thiqah), and al-Bukhārī used ʿIkrimah as proof. So the hadith is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ).
