Virtue Of Performing Salat at the Beginning Of Its Prescribed Time

Show the chain

Notes

machine translationAbū ʿĪsā said: This is a good and strange (ḥasan gharīb) hadith, and its chain is not connected. Al-Shāfiʿī said: The first time of the prayer is better. Among the things that indicate the superiority of the beginning of the time over its end is the choice of the Prophet ﷺ, Abū Bakr and ʿUmar. They would not choose anything but what is best, and they would not leave the better course, and they used to pray at the beginning of the time. He said: Abū al-Walīd al-Makkī narrated that to us from al-Shāfiʿī.

machine translationThere is disagreement about it concerning al-Layth b. Saʿd. Muʿallā b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated it from al-Layth, from Abū al-Naḍr, from Abū Salamah, from ʿĀʾishah. Others narrate it from al-Layth, from Khālid b. Yazīd, from Saʿīd b. Abī Hilāl, from Isḥāq b. ʿUmar, from ʿĀʾishah, and this is the preserved (maḥfūẓ) version from al-Layth.

machine translation"And its chain is not connected": it is established from this statement of al-Tirmidhī that Isḥāq b. ʿUmar did not hear from ʿĀʾishah. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in Tahdhīb al-Tahdhīb, in the entry on Isḥāq b. ʿUmar: Al-Tirmidhī narrated one hadith from him, on the times of the prayer, and said: strange (gharīb), and its chain is not connected.
