Musnad al-Rubayyiʿ bint Muʿawwidh ibn ʿAfrāʾ (may Allah be pleased with her)

Translation

Al-Rubayyiʿ bint Muʿawwidh ibn ʿAfrāʾ (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn sent me [ʿAbdullāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAqīl] to her to ask about the Messenger of Allah’s ﷺ wuḍūʾ. She brought out a vessel holding roughly one mudd, or a mudd and a quarter, and said, “I would bring him water in this. He would pour it over his hands three times, wash his face three times, rinse his mouth three times, snuff water into his nose three times, wash his right hand three times and his left hand three times, then wipe his head, front to back, then wash his feet three times. A cousin of yours came to me, Ibn ʿAbbās, and asked me the same, and I told him, and he said to me, ‘I find in the Book of Allah only two wipings and two washings.‘” Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 264
