Musnad of Abū Ḥamzah Anas ibn Mālik al-Anṣārī, the Servant of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ وَرْدَانَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ: «مَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ جَنَازَةً؟» قَالَ عُمَرُ: أَنَا. قَالَ: «مَنْ عَادَ مِنْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ مَرِيضًا؟» قَالَ عُمَرُ: أَنَا. قَالَ: «مَنْ تَصَدَّقَ الْيَوْمَ؟» قَالَ عُمَرُ: أَنَا. قَالَ: «مَنْ أَصْبَحَ مِنْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ صَائِمًا؟» قَالَ عُمَرُ: أَنَا. قَالَ: «وَجَبَتْ، وَجَبَتْ».
Translation
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: “One day the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ said to his Companions: ‘Who among you attended a funeral today?’ ʿUmar said: ‘I did.’ He said: ‘Who among you visited a sick person today?’ ʿUmar said: ‘I did.’ He said: ‘Who gave charity today?’ ʿUmar said: ‘I did.’ He said: ‘Who among you began this day fasting?’ ʿUmar said: ‘I did.’ He said: ‘It is guaranteed, it is guaranteed.’” Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 194
