Thulathiyyat (Musnad Ahmad) 183

Musnad of Abū Ḥamzah Anas ibn Mālik al-Anṣārī, the Servant of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ قَالَ: سُئِلَ أَنَسٌ عَنْ صَلَاةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِاللَّيْلِ، فَقَالَ: «مَا كُنَّا نَشَاءُ أَنْ نَرَاهُ مُصَلِّيًا إِلَّا رَأَيْنَاهُ، وَلَا نَائِمًا إِلَّا رَأَيْنَاهُ».

Translation

Ḥumayd reported: “Anas [ibn Mālik] was asked about the night prayer of the Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ. He said: ‘Whenever we wished to see him praying, we would see him praying; and whenever we wished to see him sleeping, we would see him sleeping.’” Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 183
