Thulathiyyat (Musnad Ahmad) 104
Musnad of Abū Ḥamzah Anas ibn Mālik al-Anṣārī, the Servant of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ
حدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: «كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَانَ مُقِيمًا اعْتَكَفَ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوَاخِرَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ، وَإِذَا سَافَرَ اعْتَكَفَ مِنَ الْعَامِ الْمُقْبِلِ عِشْرِينَ». قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ [بْنُ أَحْمَدَ]: قَالَ أَبِي: «لَمْ أَسْمَعْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ إِلَّا مِنْ ابْنِ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ».
Translation
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When the Prophet (ﷺ) ﷺ was resident [in Madīnah], he would observe iʿtikāf during the last ten nights of Ramaḍān. However, if he was traveling [during Ramaḍān], he would observe iʿtikāf for twenty nights the following year. Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 104
