✧ The first to come to us in Madinah - meaning in the Hijrah - were Mus'ab b. 'Umayr and Ibn Umm Maktum, and they used to teach the Qur'an. Then Sa'd, Bilal, and 'Ammar came. Then 'Umar b. al-Khattab came with twenty others. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came, and I never saw the people of Madinah rejoice at anything as they rejoiced at the arrival of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; slave women in the streets began saying: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has come!' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had not yet arrived when I had already recited 'Glorify the name of your Lord the Most High' and 'By the night when it covers' among the surahs of the Mufassal.
