✧ "I was sitting with Hudhayfah b. al-Yaman and Abu Mas'ud al-Badri when the people of Kufah went out to Sa'id b. al-'As and turned him back, and that was the day of al-Jar'ah. He said: I heard Abu Mas'ud say: 'I did not think that it would return without blood being shed in it.' Hudhayfah said: 'But I, by God, I knew that it would return on its heels without a cupping glass of blood being shed in it. I knew nothing of that except a thing I learned while Muhammad ﷺ was alive: a man wakes up a believer and by evening there is nothing of his religion with him, and by evening a believer and wakes up with nothing of his religion with him. He fights in the faction of the people—or he said: in the fitnah of the day; Abu Dawud was uncertain—God will kill him tomorrow; his heart is turned upside down and his buttocks rise above him.' He said: I said: 'His lower part?' He said: 'His buttocks.'"
