حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَازِمٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ:

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يُوعَكُ، فَمَسِسْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّكَ تُوعَكُ وَعْكًا شَدِيدًا، قَالَ: أَجَلْ، إِنِّي أُوعَكُ كَمَا يُوعَكُ الرَّجُلَانِ مِنْكُمْ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: وَذَاكَ لِأَنَّ لَكَ الْأَجْرَ مَرَّتَيْنِ ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يُصِيبُهُ أَذًى، مَرَضٌ فَمَا سِوَاهُ، إِلَّا حَطَّ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَنْهُ خَطَايَاهُ كَمَا تَحُطُّ الشَّجَرَةُ وَرَقَهَا

Translation

✧ I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was suffering from a fever, so I touched him and said: O Messenger of Allah, you are suffering from a severe fever. He said: Yes, I suffer a fever as severe as two men among you. I said: That is because you have a double reward? He said: Yes, and by the One in whose hand is my soul, no Muslim is afflicted with any harm—illness or anything else—except that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sheds his sins from him as a tree sheds its leaves.
