✧ We came to the Prophet ﷺ regarding a companion of ours, asking his permission for cauterization—that we should cauterize him. He remained silent. Then we repeated it, and he remained silent. Then we repeated it a third time, and he remained silent. Then we repeated it again, and he said: 'Burn him with heated stones, burn him,' and he disliked that.
