✧ The lineage of Uthman b. Affan

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَلَدُ قَيْسِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ بْنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ الْقُرَشِيِّ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَى ابْنَتِهِ وَهِي تَغْسِلُ رَأْسَ عُثْمَانَ ؓ فَقَالَ يَا بُنَيَّةُ أحْسِني إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ فَإِنَّهُ أَشْبَهُ أَصْحَابِي بِي خُلُقًا

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon his daughter while she was washing Uthman's ؓ head and said, "O my dear daughter, be kind to Abu Abd Allah, for he is the closest of my Companions to me in character."
