حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ
قِيلَ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يُكْثِرُ ذِكْرَ الصَّلَاةِ فِي الْقُرْآنِ {الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلَاتِهِمْ دَائِمُونَ} {وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ} فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ «ذَلِكَ عَلَى مَوَاقِيتِهَا» فَقَالُوا يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ إِنَّمَا كُنَّا نَرَى ذَاكَ التُّرْكُ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ «تَرْكُهَا كُفْرٌ»

✧ It was said to ʿAbd Allah: 'Allah the Exalted mentions prayer often in the Qurʾān: "Those who are constant in their prayer" [Q 70:23], "And those who are mindful of their prayer" [Q 70:34].' ʿAbd Allah said: 'That refers to its proper times.' They said: 'O Abu ʿAbd al-Rahman, we thought it meant abandoning it.' ʿAbd Allah said: 'Abandoning it is disbelief.'
